Terminology
A system is a set of interrelated components working together towards some kind of process.
A flow is defineded as the movement of matter from one store to another
A store is defined as an accumulation of matter within a store
An open system is a system where the magnitude of both matter and energy can vary like the local scale drainage basin.
A closed system is defined as a system where the magnitude of matter remains constant, but energy levels can vary such as the global scale water or carbon cycle.
Dynamic equilibrium is when the magnitude of inputs equal to the output and is the state that all systems strive towards
Negative feedback is defined as when there is a change in the system which is negated leading to the system to move back into its orginal eqillibrium.
Positive feedback is when there is a change that is exacerbated by the system leading to the system to deviate further away from its original position.
